This is a laid-back guide intended to help people optimizing their Hero usage! Rather than using only Starfire Squall, utilize combos to better your output!

Part 1: Basic Hero

Hero is a scion class that uses Sword, TMG, and Talis. They have a huge damage boost as long as you can avoid losing 20% of you max HP in 5 second.

  This guide assumes that:

  • You know how PSO2 works in general, as you need 2 level 75 classes to unlock Hero
  • You have done the Hero Tutorial
  • You know who Stratos (ストラトス) is
  • You can amass Excubes
  • You can amass Photon Spheres

Hero Mag

Thanks to Hero Mag skill, any points added to a mag's S-ATK, R-ATK, and T-ATK will be distributed to all attacks at 1:1 rate. So if you have 200 T-ATK mag, you'll also gain 200 S-ATK and 200 R-ATK.

Preferably your mag has this following setup:

T-ATK 200 Focusing on pure T-ATK will give you access to the exclusive, PP Restore J.
Photon Blast Cetus Proi You'll automatically get Cetus Proi upon focusing on T-ATK. You can buy PB Device Cetus P (PBデバイス/ケートスP) from the Excube shop.
Auto Action Megid Megid is a powerful auto action and can poison enemy. Along with Talis and Mag Excite Ring, your mag can contribute damage comparable to S4 Raising Pursuit. You can buy T-ATK Device Megid (法撃デバイス/メギド) from the Excube Shop
Auto SP Action Barricade (鉄壁 Unbreakable) I personally prefer this since in higher difficulty bosses can do a lot of damage in a single bow; this can be a lifesaver when you least expect it. You can buy SP DEX Device Barricade (SP技量デバイス/鉄壁 SP DEX Device Iron Wall) from the Excube Shop. If you have PP trouble, pick Rapid Fire. Dance is hardly useful because it's hard to time it properly with your burst attacks.

Skill Tree

Hero's skill tree doesn't require too much details. For general purpose, you can just use Recommended Setting, but it will skip putting points on those stat boosters. Generally take everything except the optional skills, listed below.

About Hero Boost and Hero Counter

Hero Boost gives 80% damage increase, but if you lose 20% of your max HP in 5 seconds (regardless of current HP), you also lose 20% damage, bringing you down to 60%. Hero Boost will build this back by 1% per second, or you can do 1 Hero Counter to bring it back to 80%.

Caution! Hero Step is not as good as Phantom, Etoile, or Luster step: you can still get hit after the "Shing!" sound effect if your response is slow (like me).

Part 2: Intermediate Hero

  Intermediate Objectives:

  • You can assign helpful rings on your units: Atomizer Lovers and Party of Toughness
  • You know the quirks of each Hero Weapon
  • You can perform the optimum rotation combo of Sword
  • You can perform the optimum rotation combo of Talis

To know the basics of Sword, please do the Hero Training Quest on Sword. Sword is the easiest weapon to use and used to be the only Hero weapon, delegating the other two to just utility. Now, it's still the most balanced weapon and safest to use. If you want to start using Hero, start with Sword.

Hold each Rising Slash just enough so you can do one airborne slash to it's vertical slam.Sword's most powerful combo, but can only be done on ground.Cannot do proper damage against high altitude or aerial target, so it's usage is limited

To know the basics of TMG, please do the Hero Training Quest on TMG. TMG reward aggressive play with its powerful counterattack, while keeping the safe side by staying at mid-range.

To know the basics of Talis, please do the Hero Training Quest on Talis. Talis hits hard and is relatively lenient on it's PP consumption. It builds the Hero focus fastest, and also have the strongest Hero Time Finish.

  • You know PP efficiency alternative to pure damage

Units

For damage purpose, Hero uses corresponding attack based on the equipped weapon. For easier time, put some HP on your units. For further information on units, please take a look on the companion guide, linked below!

Weapons

As with units, use whatever's available. The weapons listed below are more less, commonly used and/or easy to obtain. If you struggle to obtain a ★15, Atra Ex and Austere can be made easily.

Reminder to transfer your S-Class Abilities, not use the weapon as fodder!

Weapon Affix

I personally go for a 6 to 7 slot easy-to-achieve affix. Adding damage like S1:Augment Intent is a common option, but I prefer increased PP efficiency, especially since Wand requires it.
