Class Combination

Summoner Subclass
Summoner Subclass

Summoner has 4 viable subclasses: the common Fighter and Phantom, and the more niche Braver and Bouncer:
  • SuFi: Most common combination. Best combination if Ph is not yet available
  • SuPh: The premier combo for everything. It is stronger than SuFi with great PP regeneration, but requires the character to have 200 PP
  • SuBr: Great for beginners, especially players new to Summoner and new to PSO2
  • SuBo: Has good PP regen and strong against breakable parts, but difficult to use.

All multipliers listed are not counting High Level Bonus, which is a must-take. The "Damage Rating" stated is based on critical builds, whose explanation can be found after this section.

Summoner-Fighter (SuFi)

Recommended for all skill levels. SuFi has the highest stance multiplier and less likely need to switch stance, but offers little compensation once PP runs out and has lowest critical rate (means your base damage will be lower). Despite this, SuFi remains well-rounded and is a good choice towards end-game, especially if Phantom is not available.

Property Description
Damage rating 174.09% (Brave Stance), 198.40% (Wise Stance)Explanation
PP management Normal
Ease of use Moderate
Usage note Abusing Dear Master on overly-aggressive bosses allows you to activate Slayer skills perpetually.

Fighter Skills to Take

Icon Skills SP Description
skill-fi-brave-stance.pngskill-fi-brave-stance-up-critical.png Valiant StanceBrave Stance 20 SP includes both Valiant Stance Up and Valiant Stance Critical.154% front-attack damage (135% on rear-attack), +25% critical rate. The Valiant Stance depends on the point of the part pet attacks compared to the enemy's body.E.g. Valiant Stance works when attacking Quent Dragon's front leg from any position (including from rear!), but will not work when attacking dragon's hind leg from any position (including from the front!).
skill-fi-adrenaline.png Adrenaline 1 Shifta and Deband is now 30 seconds per tick.Applies to pet too.
skill-fi-pp-slayer.png Photon SlayerPP Slayer 10 Additional 200 S/R/T-ATK when PP is below 50%.
skill-fi-halfline-deadline-slayer.png Halfline / Deadline Slayers 10 Additional 150 + 100 S/R/T-ATK when character's HP is 25% or less.
skill-fi-wise-stance.pngskill-fi-wise-stance-up-critical.png Wise Stance 20 SP includes both Wise Stance Up and Wise Stance Critical.175.5% rear-attack damage (100% on front attack), +25% critical rate. While powerful, this has limited uses, particularly only against Dark Falz Elder, and for attacking Cuento Dragon's hind legs and tail., particularly only against Dark Falz Elder, and for attacking Quent Dragon's hind legs and tail.
skill-fi-chase-advance-plus.png Extra Chaser DamageChase Advance Plus 5 Doesn't work on most bosses!115% damage to target with certain status effect.Pets that inflicts status effects are: Wanda/Jinga (Shock: Stun), Viola (Stamp: Stun), Maron/Melon (Strike: Stun), Synchro (Dan: Bind, Geki: Stun).Popple's Jellen does not count.
skill-fi-crazy-heart.pngskill-fi-crazy-beat.png Crazy Heart & Crazy Beat 10 This skill is not recommended as it's too situational to be useful and most of time, a competent Techter will restore your Status with their Super Treatment. If you're affected by at least one negative status, then Crazy Heart will increase PP Regen by 200% and Crazy Beat will add 200 S-ATK.Somehow this is used as a licence to be a jerkass for players who wanted to keep their boost on while on status effect toward players who want to heal them off their status effect.Play nice, don't be a jerkass!
You can still use TEC/T-ATK Mag even if you're SuFi, and it's recommended to do so over MEL/S-ATK Mag!
manaka-icon.png

Summoner-Phantom (SuPh)

The final destination of Summoner. SuPh has high multiplier, high PP regeneration, and no stances, making it easy to use. In every way, compared to other subs, Ph stands superior as an all rounder. However, it requires 200 PP to be effective, 2 level 75 classes to unlock Ph, and Ph weaponry to sustain its leveling since Ph cannot have a subclass.

Property Description
Damage rating 185.22%Explanation
PP management Easy
Ease of use Easy
Usage note Requires 200 PP. The only sub class that allows easier use of Redran.

Phantom Skills to Take

Icon Skills SP Description
skill-ph-all-attack-bonus.png All Attack Bonus Ph 5 135% damage when using pets.
skill-ph-photon-critical-stream.png Photon Stream 5 Increases damage by 5% of max PP.This skill caps critical rate at 10% (200 PP).
skill-ph-photon-critical-stream.png Critical Stream 5 Increases critical rate by 20% of max PP and critical damage by 3% of max PP.This skill caps critical rate at 60% (300 PP) and critical damage at 5% (167 PP).At 200 PP, your critical rate will be 40%.
skill-ph-pp-restorate.png Phantom PP Restorate 5 Increases natural PP regeneration by 30% and Attack PP restoration by 30%.
skill-ph-tech-sc.png Tech Short Charge 5 Shortens Technic charge by 50%, and lowers PP cost by 30%, but also lowers its damage. This is useful to quickly cast Zanverse, Megiverse, Resta, and Shifta.
skill-ph-pp-high-up.png PP High Up 10 Additional +20 PP.This helps to attain the 200PP requirement, if not surpass it.
skill-ph-sprint-tech-charge.png Sprint Tech Charge 1 Allows faster movement while charging Technics. This is not required, but can be useful especially if you don't use crafted techs.
skill-ph-mag.png Phantom Mag Mag's DEX will be converted to S/R/T-ATK.If you have a 200 DEX mag, it will aso contribute 200 S/R/T-ATK!

Summoner-Luster (SuLu)

An alternative to SuPh, mainly if you are confident in your ability to keep attacking your target. Luster sub heavily relies on the combo count, or voltage, to do proper damage since the more combo you do, the more critical rate you have. You'll need both Synchro and Zanverse to keep your damage up.

Property Description
Damage rating 160.25%Explanation
Damage rating (500 Voltage) 184.57%Explanation
PP management Normal
Ease of use Hard
Usage note Requires reaching 500 Voltage as fast as possible; Activating Alter Ego during 500 Voltage will make Alter Ego immediately usable after the effect ends.

Luster Skills to Take

Icon Skills SP Description
skill-lu-voltage.png Luster Voltage 1 Provides a hit count display called "voltage".Voltage increases with each hit you make to any enemy within 5 seconds; if you don't make a hit in 5 seconds, the count is reset to 0.You gain 2% damage bonus based on your voltage count and 4% damage reduction; Damage bonus is capped at 10% and damage reduction is capped at 20%, which requires 500 voltage.Mag attacks and Zanverse increases voltage count.
skill-lu-voltage-bonus.png Voltage Bonus 1 Automatically provide shifta and deband every 100 voltage. While voltage count display stops at 9999, the actual amount will still be going and you'll still get the buff every 100 hits.
skill-lu-voltage-bonus.png Voltage Reset Heal 10 Restores HP and PP by 20% of voltage amount when it's reset.Voltage amount will reset if you let 5 seconds pass without making any single hit.
skill-lu-voltage-bonus.png High Voltage 1 Provides 50% active skill cooldown, 25% critical rate, and 150% PP recovery (assuming from both natural and active) if voltage count is at least 500.The skill cooldown reduction only applies to skills activated during 500+ voltage; the reduction does not work for skill activated before 500 viltage, even though it passes the count during effect. This is the only critical rate source for Luster.
skill-lu-voltage-bonus.png Voltage Heat Up 1 Adds +1 voltage count when hitting bosses.
skill-lu-all-attack-bonus.png All Attack Bonus Lu 10 145% damage when using pets.
skill-lu-amplified-assist.png Amplified Assist 10 Boosts the time of Shifta and Deband tick by 15 seconds. Also increases maximum duration of Shifta and Deband to 120 seconds.
skill-lu-all-attack-bonus.png All Attack Up 10 Grants 50 MEL-RNG-TEC/S-R-T-ATK.
skill-lu-tech-arts-ja.png Tech Arts JA Multi Bonus 3 Does not work for pets.Supposedly increases critical rate by 25% and adds +1 voltage count, but it requires JA.You still need to take this to get access to All Attack Bonus Lu
skill-lu-tech-arts-pp.png Tech Arts PP High Save 5 Does not work for pets.Supposedly reduces PP consumption for each different PA used in succession. You still need to take this to get access to All Attack Bonus Lu.
skill-lu-mag.png Luster Mag Mag's total S-R-T-ATK will be converted to each S-R-T-ATK.If you have a 200 S-ATK mag, it will also give 200 R-T-ATK!If your mag have 150 S-ATK and 50 T-ATK, it will take the total of the ATK, in this example 200, and set the mag to have 200 of each S-R-T-ATK.

Summoner-Braver (SuBr)

Recommended for beginners. SuBr has the easiest usage, but relatively lacks output. This is compensated by Attack Advance which, on several pets, provides a PA-powered normal attacks with 0 PP usage. This contributes to its beginner-friendly nature as newbies tend to use normal attacks a lot. SuBr is best when fighting bosses whose weak point is exposed for a long time to warrant Weak Stance activation, such as Dark Falz Elder, Cuento Dragon, Dark Falz Persona, Demoire Dominus, and Veiled Fordruss.

Property Description
Damage rating 154.06% (Average Stance with Attack Advance), 180.86% (Weak Stance with Attack Advance)Explanation
PP management Normal
Ease of use Easy
Best compatibility Rappy. If your Rappy has Spirited Parfait (はりきりパフェ), you can just use normal attacks since it will become Rappy's top DPS move, being only slightly (~5%) less powerful than Rappy End with S Charge.
Usage note With a strong normal attack pets, Near Auto Target, Attack Advance, and Spirited Parfait, you can just wave your takt once and cruise through any fields without using PAs.

Braver Skills to Take

Icon Skills SP Description
skill-br-average-stance.pngskill-br-average-stance-up-critical.png Basic StanceAverage Stance 20 SP includes both Basic Stance Up and Basic Stance Critical.126.5% damage, +25% critical rate.

skill-br-attack-advance.png Enhanced AttackAttack Advance 5 135% damage from normal attacks.

Summoner-Bouncer (SuBo)

SuBo has a superior PP regeneration mechanism. They are the only sub-class that allows Summonner to reach 100% critical without external help (means your base damage is all-time highest). While it does not have high multiplier compared to Fi, its PP regeneration is more than enough to make it up, even with only Elemental Stance; this means that you will need to get used to PA constantly. Unfortunately, using SuBo means you require extra palette slot to accommodate Fields, and you will be required to maintain your Shifta and Deband. SuBo is best when fighting bosses whose break point is exposed for a long time to warrant Break Stance activation, such as Dark/Omega Falz Luther, Profound/Unfathomable Darkness, Magatsu, Quent Dragon, and Dark Falz Persona.

Property Description
Damage rating 165.00% (Elemental Stance), 185.62% (Break Stance) Explanation
PP management Easy
Ease of use Hard
Best compatibility Synchro. Use Rykros Staff for maximum effectiveness.
Usage note If you need to create elemental pets to take advantage of Elemental Stance, Wanda or Jinga would be the best choice.
If you don't have elemental Pets, SuBo is less effective on multi-elemental weakness EQs, such as the Seasonal EQs.

Bouncer Skills to Take

Icon Skills SP Description
skill-bo-elemental-stance.pngskill-bo-elemental-stance-up-critical.png Elemental Stance 20 SP includes both Elemental Stance Up and Elemental Stance Critical.132% damage on elemental weakness hit (110% on normal), +25% critical rate.
skill-bo-break-stance.pngskill-bo-break-stance-up-critical.png Break Stance 20 SP includes both Critical Stance Up and Critical Stance Critical.149.5% damage on breakable parts (100% on normal), +25% critical rate.
skill-bo-field-critical.png Critical Field 5 Critical Rate +30%.
skill-bo-field-pp.png Elemental PP Restorate Field 5 Restores 3 PP every normal attack if you hit an elemental weakness.
skill-bo-field-remain.png Field Remain 1 Pet needs to be inside the field to have its effect. This skill allows pet to exit the field and retains the field's effect for 30s.
skill-bo-shifta-air.png Shifta Air Attack Boost 5 105% damage during Shifta when attacking mid-air.All of pets' attacks and PAs are counted as mid-air atacks.
skill-bo-deband-pp.png Deband PP Restorate 5 Restores 5 PP during Deband when using a normal attack.Somehow, Sinister Stare (Glance of Darkness) counts as a normal attack and will restore 5 PP if the character has Deband.
skill-bo-j-reversal-pp.png Perfect Recovery PP GainJ Reversal PP Gain 5 Recovers 20% PP during just reversal.Don't take this skill if you main Bo.
skill-bo-mag.png Bouncer Mag Mag's DEX will be converted to S/R/T-ATK.If you have a 200 DEX mag, it will aso contribute 200 S/R/T-ATK!
SuBo may be able to provide smoother stransition to SuPh if you have DEX Mag, but it's difficult to use! ( ; ω ; )

Other Class Combinations

Other than Fi, Ph, Br, and Bo, no other class combination works for Su:
Sub Multiplier with Critical Ring
Hunter 115.71%
Force 110.51%
Force (Photon Flare) 120.92%
Techer (Elemental Weak) 137.61%
Etoile 143.67%
Etoile (Tech Attack Count Bonus) 165.22%
  • Su doesn't have JA, which means SuHu and SuEt will not work well:
    • SuHu gains nothing from JA Bonus; Fury Stance only boost Striking and Ranged while all Pet attacks are considered Tech (regardless of Switch skills)
    • SuEt cannot activate Flat Attack bonus because this skill only applies to missing JA on attacks that have JA. Pet attacks have no JA
    • SuEt doesn't gain any critical rate from Etoile tree, making its base damage lower.
    • SuEt with Tech Attack Count Bonus is incompatible with a lot of pets' combo which involve using a single attack repeatedly
  • Pet attacks, while always do Tech damage, is not a Technic:
    • Elemental Mastery (e.g. Fire Mastery, Light Mastery, etc.) skills are invalid due to only working for Technics
    • Similarly, SuFo cannot activate any Tech Advance skills (Normal Tech Advance, Tech Charge Advance, Tech JA Advance)
Using SuFo and SuTe for casting attack Tech along with pet is a bad idea! You'll end up with weak tech and weak pet!
manaka-icon.png

About Critical Hits

While Su does not have JA, this is offset by pets having 70% minimum damage, as opposed to other weapon's 90% when using a ★13. Adding as much critical as possible allows pet to reach higher average damage, without compensating any aspects (maybe that 10 PP from 2 Spirit Canes).

Stack as many critical rate up as you can, it's a shortcut to high damage!
manaka-icon.png

Skill Rings

If you plan to use more than 1 L Skill Rings, then it is recommended that you use ★12 units. If you play multiple classes, do not put near auto-target on your unit, as it might be wasteful.

Icon Name Description
ring-cstriketicon.png Critical Strike: Technique (R)R/Cストライク法撃R/C Strike Tech +20 +20% critical rate and 103% critical damage. This is the to-go ring for all sub classes, except Fi.Grinding is a must.
ring-pkeepertech.png Perfectionist: Technique (R)R/Pキーパー法撃R/P Keeper Tech +20 103% damage if HP is above 75%.Use this ring instead if you use Fi sub.Grinding is a must.
ring-effortringsu.png Valor Emblem (R)R/エフォートシンボルサモナーR/Effort Symbol Ring +20 101% damage, +10% critical rate, 97% damage taken. An alternative for Fi sub.Grinding is a must.Any effort ring will do.
ring-nearautotargeticon.png Nearby Auto Target (L)L/ニアオートターゲットL/Near Auto Target Pet will automatically attack enemies with 1 swing. Using recall skills (like Jinga Assault), will cancel the effect until next harmonizer swing.
ring-atomizerlovers.png Atomizer Fanatic (L)L/アトマイザーラバーズL/Atomizer Lover Increases usage speed when using Atomizer and grants invulnerability while doing so.Grinding is optional to increase the potency of Atomizer (up to 160%).
ring-techcparrying.png Technique Charge Parry (L) +20L/テックCパリングL/C Tech Parry Provides 0.6s of frontal Just Guard when charging a technique using a Tech weapon (Rod, Talis, Wand, Jet Boots, Harmonizer). This is optional, but can be handy if you master the rather lenient timing.Should you decide to acquire this, grinding is a must.
ring-magexcite.png Mag Excitement (L) +20L/マグエキサイトL/Mag Excite +20 Increase damage and frequency of Mag's normal action. If you set a Mag's normal action to Megid, it can do a quite a dent to enemy, as well as poison the lesser mobs. While it can aid your damage as long as the mag has energy, it can backfire against Anga Phandaj as it will have increased chance to resist your harmonizer.Should you decide to use this, grinding is a must.
Pet attacks are always Tech regardless of activated Switch skills, thus you need a Critical Strike Tech ring!

Technics

Several Technics are essential to have. You can obtain them as drops, buy from player shops, or trade them on Excube Shop at L17 for 20 Excubes each.

Icon Name Description
tech-li-resta.png Resta Heals all allied units in an area.Pet will request a Resta sympathy if they have a low HP.Preferred to have Brilliant craft (increases healing).
tech-li-anti.png Anti Restores status effect of all allied units in an area.A full-charged Anti lasts about 5 seconds on the field, you can use this as a preemptive move if you see a status move is incoming, like Elder's ice meteor.Preferred to have Concentrated craft (reduces charge time).
tech-fi-shifta.png Shifta Raises base attack power of all allied units in an area.Pet will request Shifta sympathy during battle.Pet needs to have the Shifta buff for increased attack; having Shifta buff on the character is irrelevant to pet's damage.Preferred to have Multi craft (more ticks).
tech-ic-deband.png Deband Raises base defense power of all allied units in an area.Deband is not as essential as Shifta, but is a key tech to have for Bo sub.Preferred to have Multi craft (more ticks).
tech-wi-zanverse.png Zanverse Inflicts additional 20% Wind damage when the pet is within the Zanverse radius.Best combined with long-range pets like Popple.Zanversed pet will affect the DoT given to enemy, as long as the pet is on the Zanverse area.Preferred to have Concentrated craft (reduces charge time).
tech-da-megiverse.png Megiverse Restores HP equal to 25% of damages inflicted if the pet is within the Megiverse radius.Note that since pet does the damage, character will not benefit from the skill at all, unless Sinister Stare (Glance of Darkness) is active.Either craft of Megiverse is fine.
tech-fi-safoie.png Safoie Type-0 Must have Type-0 Craft (available at start).A movement PA that helps you travel faster. It also tracks enemy's height, and has a lot of hits to help you escape from Fhange (that red-prison thing which traps you in an E-Trial).
tech-el-ilzonde.png Ilzonde An alternate movement PA if Safoie Type-0 is out of reach.Has a high PP cost, ditch this once you have Safoie-0.

Pets

The other important thing beside raising your pet properly is how to use them properly. There are a number of pets for a Summoner, each with their own specific purpose.

Glossary

Please note the following glossary before reading the detailed description of each pets.
Terms Description
DPS Rating Rating of Damage per second, calculated roughly by damage divided by frame, divided by average damage of Pet PAs. This is solely used to determine which pet attack is more powerful when used over and over. It does not mean that it is the most efficient attack.
Recall PA A Photon Arts (PA) that returns pet to your side and stops it from using further attack. This will pause the effect of Near Auto Target ring. Unless noted, pet will perform the move first before returning.
DoT Damage-over-time, inflicts small damage over a set amount of time. It is similar to Poison, but is not counted as a status effect, hence do not activate Chase Advance Plus. A DoT skill will sucessfully deliver damage if the first hit lands, even if the part is hidden or the pet got stunned. However, it will cancel if the affected part is destroyed, or pet is unsummoned.
Sinister Stare (Glance of Darkness) The potential icon on the DPS colum shows the DPS rating when Sinister Stare (Glance of Darkness) is used.
The DPS value is relative to another pet, use it only to compare one pet to another!

Trim & Aero (トリム・アエロ Torim & Aero)

Description
pet-torim.pngpet-aero.png A pet with high powered PAs, focusing on quality over quantity. They are best suited to pursuit agile enemies with their fast Stab and their double DoT attacks.Their main weakness is their lack of wide area attack, PP inefficiency, low defense, and weakest normal attacks (i.e. not worth for Spirited Parfait); morover, they are far too reliant on Shouted Spiral to do damage.★14 Trim is more durable with higher HP and DEF.★14 Aero has higher Pwr, upgraded Aero Spriral (wider attack area) and Aero Slash (stronger).Stunned Trim takes 60s to recover; Aero takes 30s.Trim and Aero are currently outclassed by their glass cannon peers like Synchro, and fellow avian, Rappy.

Sally & Popple (サリィ・ポップル Cery & Popple)

Description
pet-cery.pngpet-popple.png A long-range support pet, best at taking down a large quantity of enemies. They are risky to use against bosses that moves too much because its main DPS attack tends to miss. However, their easy-to-use nature allows you to utilize Zanverse together with their attacks.Sally and Popple can jam: pressing a PA button at the same time when they lose target will cause them to skip the said PA, but will still cost PP!★14 Sally is more durable with higher HP and DEF.★14 Popple has higher ATK and upgraded Popple Plode (chargeable and stronger hit, but lower DPS).Stunned Sally takes 60s to recover; Popple takes 30s.
Personality Description

Marron (マロン Maron)

Description
pet-maron.png A defensive pet with self-explosion ability. Marron is best used when your enemy is agressive and have a lot of multi-hit attacks, like Omega Masquerage.Once was popular pet before damage cap was implemented; with damage cap in place, Marron Strike's capped 1M damage does lower DPS that its required setup. Using Marron for Strike attack only will lower their DPS a lot; consider using the strike as a bonus damage and focus on using Curse and Break as primary DPS.Marron's size has 3 stages, which powers up their Strike: The 1st stage is default; Marron will always be on 1st stage if you summon them; the 2nd stage is reached after 3 hits, in which Marron becomes big; the 3rd stage is reached after 9 hits, in which Marron becomes even bigger with flames coming out of their body; you have 15 seconds to perform Marron strike before Marron explodes on your hand and reduce your HP to a fraction.Unlike Melon, Marron has limited use on regular EQs: its overreliance on Marron Strike 3 to do damage become it's main weakness; Marron's main combo (Curse-Break) is weaker than the standard of a Jinga. It's niche, however, is in solo "hard difficulty" quest which features multi-hit bosses, i.e. Phaleg, Omega Masquerade, and Shiva; In those quest, you can throw Marron Strike 3 in under 30s and swap to another Marron.Stunned Marron takes 60s to recover.
